Sorry it has been so long since I have written...my home computer usually can't get here now and I am at the library. Dad is in the hospital again with almost pneumonia (congested and fevered) . Thanks for any prayers on his behalf, his immune syatem is poor. As far as the farm goes...I have two patches of fava beans growing beautifully and almost ready to give me tops (just a couple more days til harvest) Getting another bed ready to plant more. They survived all winter last year in the unheated greenhouse which got down to 17 degrees (that time they looked pretty rough, but came back again). God is good . I am well and did not sucumb to whatever we were exposed to and hopefully dad will recover quickly and be back on his feet again.

Default Temps and frost

Aunt Bean
You dont plant beds of fava beans outdoors do you? You know t he old saying here, "Dont plant anything until after May 15." The reason is it often frosts up until then, so you must be planting your fava beans in the greenhouse - Right?

I am having some sinus problems. I just read Rob's post about ropinirole (Requip) making his head feel like its clogged with thick fluid. I have never experienced that before.

Anyway, praying for your dad and wondering about those fava beans.

I planted my last fava beans outside the last of July I think and am harvesting tops and beans from them. Yes, now I am planting beds in the greenhouse, which last year supplied us with tops and flowers to tincture clear up thru June when the ones which are planted outdoors in the first part of March start a new supply coming on.
I have a doctors appointment today. Went off tincture Sunday morning at 11:00 so that she could see my symptoms. I felt tremors, stiffness and jerky by Sunday nite, but still functional. Monday was surprised to get up ok, today yet ok...just a stiff neck and some tremor in it, but still able to type quickly and finger tap very well. The only things I am doing differently is taking Magnesium citrate powder form daily and my bowels are moving almost normally! I also bought green tea and have taken a cup a day and have been eating beets now more often. I dried beet slices this summer and tried putting them in pickle beets solution in the fridge to hydrate them....it works. Vinegar (which helps many things, is in the solution) So perhaps that is something contributing to my lack of symptoms also right now...they are really good. Will let you know how the appointment goes ya'll.

Well, I finally have a written doctors diagnosis for PD and can go forward and do the 23 & Me sight for analysis to compare mine to my brothers. Expensive appointment, but necessary to complete what lays ahead as far as participating in certain research trials , etc. Thanks for your prayers. Boy is it cold here. Just came in from gathering some final tops of favas from outside. It is 28 degrees / windy and snowing. Wonder what the wind chill factor makes it. I was warm all but fingers, just covered by surgical gloves to keep the wet off...didn't help any against the cold. Now will go harvest the first tops from the greenhouse. They would have grown a lot larger, but without heat in greenhouse, they will be black by morning and unusable...small is better than none
Stay warm ya'll Aunt Bean

I should have left the tops in the greenhouse grow...the beans were not affected by the cold night. We have sealed up some of the places where cold was getting into the greenhouse. Dad reset the front door which had terrible gaps...he's wonderful. The people who moved it and started to set it up again were not efficient construction people (they were good at the tearing down and moving part though) So, perhaps it will not go all the way down to outside temperature this year. Planted garlic in a bed Saturday. May have someone coming to plow this week...hope that works out. Have to get the ground ready for planting favas the first of March. Anyone with PD interested in coming for a week or so of working vacation as a helper at Bean Acres, I need help, and wish to pass on things that have definitely helped my PD symptoms to others. Prerequisites : need to be able to work/ no smoking/drugs/ bad language * can be a couple. I will provide meals and a place to stay. If interested , send a private message .

November 27th, and one of the fava beans that was planted Nov 13 after a 24 hr soak has just popped thru the soil of the greenhouse bed 114 to go. We had a heavy snow last nite..it is beautiful! Guess it is time to get out my heavy snow pants for pulling on to go do chores again.
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A POLE PLEASE:
1. How many people are using fava beans ?
or fava products (ex. juice , capsules containing fava...several are on the market)
2. How many people are using fermented papaya?
3. How many are using mucuna bean powder or capsules?
People ask me all the time...how many people are using the natural methods that I do to control PD symptoms and I can only reply...I don't know, probably not many. Please let me know if you do... if you do not wish to post on the thread, please do private message
Thanks and have a blessed Thanksgiving. I think every day is Thanksgiving here!

Planted another bed of favas in the greenhouse Dec 14. We have had terribly frigid nights this winter and the growing favas in the greenhouse keep getting wilted/ bent over the support strings and trying to perk up during the day and survive. This is the coldest winter I can remember of all my years in TN . Just planted more beets/ kale /turnips and a few parsnips in the greenhouse yesterday . Have had to replace alot of poison compost that we purchased ...which has been hard on me...digging it out and wheel-barrowing it off to a place where I don't want anything to grow. Then digging up garden soil and wheeling it in. But slowly the greenhouse is getting planted. I've spent a lot of time practicing my instruments on these cold days and getting very little exercise....BAD GIRL AUNT BEAN. Also ate sugar cookies (being type 2 diabetic....another big no no) Now a burn on my hand that I got baking dad cookies a couple weeks ago looks worse than when I did it...and it was almost gone. Just wanted you all to realize what sugar spikes can do ( Got to get rid of all this stuff...I have no Won't power anymore! I'll take it to the support group meeting on Saturday...lots of non-diabetics there!.) Hope you all had a blessed Christmas. God Bless us everyone Love, Aunt Bean..now on the naughty list!

Aunt Bean,
I correctly taken Mucuna bean power 5x a day (each 1 Tbsp.) + 1/2 half a pill of Sinemet 25/100. Take coconut oil sparingly.
