Default Swanson Conenzyme Q10

Hi all,

I ordered coq10 from swanson which comes in 400mg. I want my Dad to take 1200 mg a day. Should he take it all the pills at the same time or take them at three different times? Also, is it best to take it with food?

Any advice would be great..

Thanks,

Sharmila

bubbly,

I've read it's not advisable to take 1200mg all at one time. Don't know about the food issue. I'm curious about that myself.

I would divide up the doses over the day. CoQ-10 has a ceiling for absorption.

This is why the enhanced products are recommended.

I read the UCSD study which started all of us gobbling CoQ10.. The subjects which showed the greatest benefit received 1200 mg CoQ10 and 1200 mg Vitamin E daily divided into three doses. Some people in the study had stomach problems which I have had if I wait too long after meals to take it(chewable tablets which UCSD used). CoQ10 is oil soluable and I have read elsewhere that a little oil in the meal helps absorption. Maybe butter on toast, oil on salad, etc.?
