Default too fast

Unless your system is completely different from mine, and I can't think that is possible, I think your Requip plan is going to make you feel sick, Steffi.

(It is, as you know, just my opinion, and only backed up by my own experience.)

The doctor is giving you too much Requip too fast. I'm sure the doctor has never taken Requip, has he???
Unless you increase with no more than .50 mg per day, and wait at least a week before you add another .50 mg per day, it will make your head buzz, and do other unpleasant things to you.

And if you increase by so much so quickly, you will not have pause to consider if the few addad mgs are helping you or making things worse.

I hope you are taking Flax Seed oil caps. to prevent Requip from 'burning holes' in your stomach.
The doctors are not always right. It's your body, so you call the shots. I can't imagine taking as much as you have been told to take.........
It really worries me.

All the best,
birte

Default Bemm...re-requip

Thank you for your interest in my medication. I am going to take youradvice and cut my 1mg tablets in half. I trust your judgement.
I can`t recall...did I chart out my increasing plan? If not it goes a bit like this;

DOSE 1 DOSE 2 DOSE 3 DOSE 4

WK 1 5mg 4mg 4mg 4mg

WK 2 5mg 5mg 4mg 4mg

WK 3 5mg 5mg 5mg 4mg

WK 4 5MG 5mg 5mg 5mg

Gosh Birte...as I am doing this I am realising that I am not slowly building up to 16mg a day.I`m already on that. I`ll be building up to 20mg a day won`t I?

This is all wrong. I will do as you say and increase by half a tablet.
How am I going to chop one of those little tiny pills in half...oh bother this disease!!!

Bless you for this information.I would have just gone along with this plan without a second thought.
And I will give the flax seed a go.I have heard of the benefits of flax before but well....never bothered but I guess know is the time to sit up and take note.

I am so grateful for this. This explains why I have been getting more shakes lately perhaps....the effect of the dosage. In fact I`ve felt worse than I have for a while now.And nausea has been a problem. Lightbulb moment.Thanks.

hugs

Hi Steffi,
Buy a pill cutter from the pharmacy.
They'll give you a more accurate dosage plus you're less likely to chop a finger off!
Cheers,
Lee

Default One more thing,

Steffi, if you're feeling worse and having more shakes, it is the Requip's affect. When I reached 12 mg per day I felt worse and worse until I had slowly, slowly cut down to where I felt good again. For me it was at 8 - 8 1/2 mg daily. Less may help you better than more. When you decrease slowly, you will know when you have reached the daily amount that helps you the most.
Requip increases tremor, makes you ache, hobbles your feet even if you only are taking .50 mg too much - not .50 mg too much per dose - but at .50 mg per day.
And do get a pill cutter - or if possible - get a prescription for a portion of .50 mg Requip..
What a bother, what a tzimmes, what a pain this illness this is,

birte

Default hugs

Lee...thanks for the pill cutter suggestion.Didn`t know there was such a thing. How many times have I slit my fingers having brandished a ruddy great carving knife, and aimed between my thumb and fingers in the hope of cracking a tiny dot of a pill. Your tip will at least keep my fingers fastened to my hands...handy for my music..lol

Birte,I don`t as a rule always tell it as it is...you know..I don`t go into vast tomes about this ache and that ache.I guess like the rest of you..I am so used to living with constant pain. But the stuff you have mentioned here describes how I have been feeling for a while now.Plus this nausea I get. This morning I was burning up a little but felt cold. Then again I have had 3 sleepless nights. Seriously going to take your advice. Can`t thank you enough for your care. Feel much safer now.
