Exclamation patient advocacy - Lindy quote

Lindy, your quote from another thread really struck a chord with me:

So true!

Unfortunately, this is the way with most things. We rely on those with the passion and fearlessness to take the opposition on full tilt while we wait for the right time, or for a more favorable climate, or until we are better informed or not so tired.

I we ever, once, come together we can be an unstoppable force.

This is a quote from two hundred and some years ago - “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.” Samuel Adams

Exclamation Pam, love your quote

I see advocates work and work at full tilt, and then as the years pass, they (we) go slower and accomplish less. I have seen it happen to pwp more advanced than me. And now I see it happening to myself.

Here is one of my favorite quotes - Margaret Mead

Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

I believe it. Because three years ago two people started with a dream - to make the PD Tulip the US symbol for PD awareness. With a lot of hard work, that dream is coming true. We can make a difference.

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."
Henry David Thoreau

The good news is, the work is what is important. We always want the result to be the yardstick by which our efforts are measured, but it is the actual work that matters. Being involved in the process is what ultimately benefits us. Even if we don't succeed, we have pushed and demanded and stomped our feet, and the group behind us will have less trouble getting started than we did and on and on.

Congratulations on the tulip symbol. It's a fine design and a terrific accomplishment.

Pam

Love the M Mead

Red face

I agree with you whole-heartedly, Pam

The advocacy work I do is how I fight this disease. One voice at a time - one project at a time - we can make a difference.

Book The time is now

Absolutely - I encourage everyone to do what they can. Make your voices heard! The amount of work going on by individuals across the US is amazing.
