Bob I say Good for you for contributing, good for you for having and sharing an opinion. The more opinions and information that is shared the more likely some bit of truth will become clear. To much self sensorship will lead to only the opinions of fanatics being heard.
Say what you will, we are all able to (sooner or later) sift through all the postings and find what we need. Each of us needs something different so we are all best served by a myriad of points of view. Keep up your posting, it's good for you and good for all of us. |

Jaye,
that is immensely kind of you and very good for me, and I will stick around, but I should take up a bit less space! If this is any help, I was angry for a few years there, about the Pharma Wars, but I am heading in a new direction now so I will be much less likely to say alarming things. |

Don't think for a minute that I was directing anything at you or anyone else personally. Keep posting. My own sadness comes from the fact that all things pass. I think that any discussion should be acceptable so long as the original intent of the posting is respected. If you want to discuss the effect of dancing, it would be rude if someone interrupted the thread to say that dancing is the road to hell. (Trust me. I'm in the bible belt.) -Rick

bob,
People have no right to tell people how often or what to post. A simple reminder about staying on topic would suffice. we've listened to theories for years and embraced them together, now we are going like patient like me. are we spokenabout there as they are here? we do our homework here - a little reminder would have done it. i thought we had so many good discussions going on and have learned not to expect anything. but i draw the line at the suggestion that this is not a stellar, well intentioned forum and if some one cracking jokes is causing some to leave [which i don't think it's you bob, it is likely me], and we have to feel guilty - leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. saying i am proseltylizing or however you spell it is completely false.. i'm done

Don't think for a minute that I was directing anything at you or anyone else personally. Rick, I go around saying "My current blend" and now people around me say it too. You should have patented it. My Current Blend includes everything - what I eat, who I talk to, how I feel, etc. I find it is a very useful concept, because I can look at it and add or subtract items for the next day, and simply, it makes me aware of what I am consuming or producing, be it drugs or vitamins or talking to the neighbor. I love your home-made research, you are a leader in that, and I am distressed to think that you get discouraged from it for any reason. It's you and your fellow stealth researchers who come up with the real stuff; my role is more that of the class clown. So keep the research going; you and your fellow underground rebel civilian scientists. |

You're really going to love my do-it-yourself DBS-surgery vid when it goes on You Tube next week! I use an electric fence control box and a Dremel MotoTool. Still working on the programming.... [QUOTE=Bob Dawson;671377] Quote:

[QUOTE\ Rick, you gotta watch out doing that. I would suggest keeping a tractor battery and a set of jumper cables beside the bed. Works for me. |

This thread has everything I love about this forum, support, dissent, argument, resolution, humour, great minds....... you name it. Faith and religion are not the real issue, tolerance is....... If we did not have tolerance in all sorts of ways, not just here, but in our everyday lives too, life would be sadder, narrower, and a lot less happy. I am not a christian, and I state that categorically, and I am not particularly religious, but I do have faith, and I do have hope, and I am a spiritual being as well as a physical, logical being. Everyone needs faith and hope, it is what keeps us going, I see no-one proselytizing, only expressions of personal belief.
Another of the great things about this forum is though a lot of posts are highly scientific, there is nevertheless a feeling that you are getting to hear real people, not just a limited set of ideas they can express, as in some places, or the hold my hand kind of support that is exactly what some people need, but not all........ There is a wonderful breadth here, and we are truly from all walks of life, I can see no point in limiting this, or even the potential for argument, for anything...... Many of us are old friends by now, but new people are always given a welcome, and helped with as much knowledge and generosity as is possible. What could be better........ I welcome the debate, no matter what the topic, it is always enlightening! Best to all Lindy |

Let me admit up front that I will never understand nor pretend to know how difficult it must be to be white and Christian in America.
That said, how many of you have noticed that while you are patting yourselves on your backs (an especially difficult task for PWP) for your tolerance, those without faith are not echoing your sentiment. How tolerant and non-judgmental is it to characterize people who do not share your beliefs as "destroyers." not "builders." Just because the majority says the minority is being treated fairly does not make it so. Many who do not share your faith quietly slip away or just don't enter into the fray here. I suppose that's not too disappointing to those who believe theirs is the only valid viewpoint. |
