this is not an instant miracle therapy,it took me 9 months to see nice improvements...you must start at a low dose and patch every day and keep it at night. the best of course is to find a neuro to supervise you. after 26 months,i really don't regret doing it,i was able to go to Bali this summer, which meant 25 hours flights, something i would never have been able 2 years ago . and i am not cured as i am still on sinemet . |

Thank you for your concern. I will be meeting with my neuro later next week. He is in a transitional period right now. He is moving to a another hospital and wanted me to call him to tell me about it. He is very narrow minded but young, so I hope he has an open mind. If not ill look for someone else.

Okay, this may sound stupid but I wonder if chewing nicotine gum might help those of us who cannot access the patch. It is a much lower dosage, so I do not expect much symptom relief but thinking it might offer a little neuro protection?
It is OTC. so I am thinking of trying it. Ran across a lab rat on Medical News Today who has just completed a technical report of her experience with it posted just last month; I am emailing her for a copy now! Will report back anything useful. Laura |

Hello Conductor
frankly i don't know if Nicotine gum is okay i am sure you can order 24 hr nico patches trough amazon or other websites. if the 3,5 mg dose is not available, you simply cut a higher dose patch to obtain the desired dosage. the patch seems better as it will deliver nicotine in your system for 24h continuously . |

Thank you for this information. I am so naive about this; I thought ones still needed a prescription for the patch. I did receive a technical report of a former chemist who has PD and self treated with the gum and had good symptom control with just the gum. There is another study where people used the patch and the gum also with sustained beneficial effect of 2 years. The gum here has an adjunct med that makes it 90% bioavailable to our system. I think I might try this once I clear it with my doctor. Merci mille fois de nous avoir aidés. Laura |

Villiers, thank you for your posts and keeping me informed on your protocol and
progress. I am really glad your a part of this board and always listen to what you have to say with great interest. Pay no attention to people on here that were bashing you for using the nicotine protocol. In many ways your health care system is far advanced when compared to the U.S. Please contact me privately if you wish as I would like to keep in touch. I am also using the Nicotine protocol thanks to you my friend! |

Hello Villers,
I am hoping you can give an update of your progress with the nicotine protocol. There are clinical trials beginning for the nicotine patch. I've been contacted by my local PD institute, and I am considering entering this trial. I've read everything you have posted regarding the nicotine... If you have more info to share it would be much appreciated! Thank you! -Ana |

I just was wondering if anyone has recent experience using the ayurvedic protocol. From the posts I've seen, it seems to have helped some folks reverse Parkinson's symptoms. If you've had experience with Dr Paneri, how did it go?
