Sooty,
I heard the admissions officer at Northwestern University, a prestigious and expensive private university in Chicago, in an interview once when I was in my twenties and not long out of college. He was speaking to potential students when the subject of money came up. His comment was to the effect "if you are admitted to Northwestern we will find the money for you to go." It was the first time in my life that I seriously regretted the my lack of this kind of information when I was younger. Because my resources were limited it never occured to me that there was a possiblity of going to a really fine university. Had I known I may have done better in highschool. (maybe not, but you never know.) This whole thing of finding the money to go to these various meetings and conferences is directly related to individual contribution to the community not big and little Ps.

Those funding the meetings and the attendants want to know the people they support will carry the message back and share it with others who could not go. The way is there, it has nothing to do with the right or wrong side of the street, but it is earned. Start now. Come to Montreal and go home and share what you have learned. I have learned this past year that there is nothing like a mission in life to make it worthwhile.

The video of the speech is now online at WobblyWilliams
