Here's perhaps an interesting hypothetical.... If you happened upon a cure for Parkinsons -- all by yourself -- say you discovered that by eating half a grapefruit and a box of popcoren that suddenly you were symptom free, then what would you do with that information.
I ask this because I can only imagine what would happen if a cure came from a drug company or a very brilliant, but enterprising individual. Let's hear your take on this! Seasonably cold, Oneguy |

I'd broadcast wide and loud for free -- and maybe buy Orville Redenbacher stock? It would be even better if it was cranberries and popcorn - pwp would be de-frocking christmas trees everywhere!
Merry Xmas !!

I agree, cranberries and popcorn is a better combination. Sounds like you have a great sense of humor -- a highly needed commodity by those of us slugging along with this elephant on our backs.

The sad thing is that there is any need to ask the question at all. There may already be someone who has found a cure but can't figure out a delivery system or someone who has a delivery system but doesn't know what to deliver.
Just think if medical discoveries were always considered to be in the public domain, how much easier and faster the process would be. But then, who would get all the money? When Jonas Salk discovered a successful vaccine for polio he did not patent it, he gave it away. Simply amazing. |

i think a pwp has just as good a shot as anyone. Popcorn is hard on my disappearing teeth though so i'm hoping for ice cream.
If i really did find the cure, especially from something already available i would try to make some money from it somehow to secure my family financially after living on disability all these years, Noone will hire us and we've lost certifications, etc. but beyond that it would all be just dandy but very busy.....oh that's right we would have energy again. so i might even go back to Maui and escape from the entire experience of pd. How much energy does a normal 60 year old have? enough to have a normal life again? Vanilla ice cream with Hershey syrup

I think you have made some excellent points here. I especially like the idea of medical discoveries being in the public domain. Fantastic of Jonas Salk to handle his discovery in the manner he did. Thanks, Oneguy |

If I discovered a cure I'd start a website with the info and then contact whoever would listen and publicize the url. I'm sure it would spread like the flu/cold! Plus post it here which I'm sure would help disseminate it. You can't keep a cure quiet forever. Look what happened with stomach ulcers? It took a while but it finally was out. Now we have the Internet to speed things up.
