Sorry, that last post became a waste. Just go to science daily and search for 141211081120

BreezyRacer,
Does wxxu's thread on prevotellaceae, etc., refer to the work that you mention? http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...prevotellaceae Perhaps I need to restart my yoghurt white-ratting. John |

don't know of any
[QUOTE=zanpar321;1128219]Question. If PWP have a drastically reduced quantity of Prevotellaceae bacteria (which produces higher amounts of H2) and obese people have an over abundance of this bacteria as indicated in the papers below, are there any obese people with Parkinson's? QUOTE]
Good question, and I don't know a single heavy person with PD. We have often wondered about this, as everyone we know with PD, even when originally diagnosed, was thin. I think there is a lot going on here. |
Five years later, with thanks to Jeffreyn who posted this paper on Health Unlocked:
"Fecal microbiota transplantation therapy for Parkinson's disease A preliminary study" Xue, Liu-Jun et al. Medicine, August 2020 Fecal microbiota transplantation therapy for Parkinson's dis... : Medicine Reporting on a small sample size of 15 PwP, Xue et al. write: "the results of this preliminary study indicate that FMT can relieve the motor and non-motor symptoms with acceptable safety in PD. Compared with nasointestinal FMT, colonic FMT may be more effective and may become a new option for the treatment of PD." John |
Thanks John. I hadn't yet worked out the best spot to post it to!
Possibly also of interest, there is a double-blind, placebo-controlled "FMT for PD" trial currently taking place in Belgium: Fecal Microbiota Transplantation for Parkinson's Disease - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov |
