"We've had a young person with rheumatoid arthritis and it went away. It was classic rheumatoid factor positive RA," he said. Professor Borody also claims symptoms of Parkinson's eased in three patients treated for chronic constipation http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-03-1...seases/5329836 |

I wonder if the incidence of PD is less in populations that consume a lot of fermented foods e.g. kefir, kim chi, sauerkraut, etc. A probiotic-rich diet should make some difference if dysbiosis is the source of our problem.

Gerry, now that's a great study for someone to do. I've recently been including saurkraut, probiotics etc.. I'm sure big pharma will soon do such a study!

As of April 2013 the FDA has classified fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) as an Investigational New Drug. This means that until FMT is formally approved, its use is restricted to the treatment of Clostridium Difficle (C Diff). However the FDA ruling does not stop doctors assisting you by screening your donor or advising you how to do FMT safely at home. - See more at: http://thepowerofpoop.com/epatients/....SUNvtsmV.dpuf
This website also has stories from people who had FTM done for various diseases - some results were quite amazing. |

Mental illnesses of the gut A growing realisation that the nervous system in our gut is not just responsible for digestion (see main story) is partly fuelled by discoveries that this “second brain” is implicated in a wide variety of brain disorders. In Parkinson’s disease, for example, the problems with movement and muscle control are caused by a loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. However, Heiko Braak at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, has found that the protein clumps that do the damage, called Lewy bodies, also show up in dopamine-producing neurons in the gut. In fact, judging by the distribution of Lewy bodies in people who died of Parkinson’s, Braak thinks it actually starts in the gut, as the result of an environmental trigger such as a virus, and then spreads to the brain via the vagus nerve. http://neurosciencestuff.tumblr.com/...r-second-brain |
