Default Merck Knew of Parkinson’s Drug Shortage in 2009, but Only Now Blames the FDA

Merck Knew of Parkinson’s Drug Shortage in 2009, but Only Now Blames the FDA

A worldwide shortage of Sinemet, a Parkinson’s Disease drug, entered its third calendar year without Merck (MRK) explaining why its supply of the drug was been disrupted. The company did, however, blame the FDA in addition to its own suppliers for the Sinemet drought, which reached the U.S. in January. Today, the company reported to the FDA it had resolved the shortage without explaining what caused it.

Well, when a drug changes distributor, a new NDC is given, and often that results in a short distribution delay.

Since BMS is no longer going to be the parent, then this has to be done.

I am wondering about the Chinese connection. China has shown it is unreliable in many safety areas already. This problem sort of reeks of that potential. In the recent past, some of the medical errors coming out of China have resulted in deaths, some children. In fact, the their drug overseer was executed for this. (a drastic punishment!)
Reports of China still poisoning their own children with melamine added to milk, continue to appear!

I was dismayed to hear that sinemet will now be made in China, they have a horrific track record as far as I am concerned. We are going to ask our neuro about whether we might try a different generic, simply because we don't try the quality control of China. We may even try going strict mucuna although it'd be really hard.

There is a LOT no one hears about over there because the government censors the media, it's awful.

Big surprise...they mainly exist for themselves. This is why we need artivism (art + activism) to tell it like it really is.
