Default A Dog Named Beatrice

I met Beatrice in Peoria last week. She is a guide dog for a pwp, a standard poodle, manicured with little fur on her body [or is it hair?] and a beautiful face. There were so many things that Beatrice did to win our hearts because she was with us the whole time, even in the restaurants.

She likes raw carrots. Her training is wonderful. One day I walked past the motor home in which she traveled with her owner and she was delicately trying to get down the steps with a somewhat large stuffed animal in her mouth. When out, she gave it to her master and he threw it to her to play.

But the most moving picture was that of Beatrice pulling her master's coat sleeves off for him. Draws tears to your eyes. I will miss Beatrice. She is one smart lady.

This is soooooo true. I want to also send out a huge thank you to Beatrice' master for sharing her and himself with the rest of us. For the moments that we shared observing and sharing the unconditional love, petting her soft warm fur, took us away from ourselves.

We have had a couple of helper dogs come visit our support group. Simply put, they are awesome! It is amazing at just what and how they can be trained to help a person. Yet, when the work is done they are still a dog and love to play, be petted, and in general be the center of attention.

Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant with the weak and the wrong. Sometime in your life you will have been all of these.
