I haven't really been able to produce real tears for a while..once in a while I can, and then my eyes will also start tearing when I least expect it. What is this? It's like I tear up at inappropriate times but when emotional, I cannot.

I think the problem with tears in PD is due to the reduced blink we usually have. Not sure of the answer other than to try some eye drops and see if that helps. Been thinking about your other posting regarding levodopa. The dyskinesia while annoying was for me anyway preferable to the rigidity and akinesia associated with being unmedicated ie without any levodopa floating around. I found being off far more distressing. I was diagnosed formally with PD in '95 although I know it was clearly present in '93 at the age of 33. Don't get too upset about dyskinesia as I no longer get that since DBS 7 yrs ago and I recommenced taking a much reduced amt of levodopa in recent times without it happening. Hang in there! |
