I am afraid that I got sidetracked but it is on my "return to" list.
It seems to be a good idea to take an occassional day off with any herb to keep it working. As for kidney safety, it looks pretty good- http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/en...rcetin+kidneys

That is the National Institute of Health's "Pubmed" database of research papers published in the US. The abstracts (summaries) are free and a lot of full text is available. Unfortunately, three or four Big Boys try very hard to build a "pay wall" to keep the Great Unwashed (that's us) out, even though our tax dollars paid for much of the work to begin with.

we have had excellent results using quercetin but not as you suggested. will check that out as i spend a lot of hours filling capsules with zandopa which allows my husband to avoid the drop between doses if he takes a 1/2 dose of zandopa an hour before he is due his sinemet. he also takes 10-12 before bedtime which allows him flexibility during the night. i could sure use a rest from hand filling those capsules.
we have used quercetin when he doesn't drink enough water and get a bit of rhamdomyalysis. it has also helped detox him when he had an overdose of glutathione. the first glut iv detoxed him to the point of wonder....he walked normally, turned on a dime and had a reciprocal arm swing, his mood elevated and all was well with the world. after the third treatment, he was immobilized. we were so stupid that we didn't connect the problem to the glutathione but eventually did, realizing that he was detoxing faster than his body could handle it. stopping the glutathione and using large and frequent doses of quercetin made a huge difference. |

What's glutathione? A google search says it's an anti-oxident. I will have to look into that.

This is a very "rich" thread and I want to upate it plus introduce some of the new faces to it. I had put the quercetin aside while I worked on other tasks and wandered farther afield than planned.
I have reintroduced quercetin and things are about the same. It is a waste in the morning but a great boon in the evenings. I will post additional thoughts on this as they occur but first I would like to hear from anyone with additional experience? -Rick

Go back and read the rest and wikipedia too and you will know all. OK, the short answer was that it began with concern about weak legs and grew to include mitochondria.

Papaya and fermented papaya contain Quercetin, saponins(boosts the immune system), and Papain (similar to Bromelin ..that helps break down proteins and thin blood...also helps break down wheat gluten. Papaya is something I take daily and it has helped me so much. It reduces swelling and inflamation, reduces bone loss , helps maintain blood glucose level, helps with hot flashes, anemia, BPH, High in Vit C , A and enzymes. EAT WHOLE FOODS!
