Hi, I really learned so much from everyone on the old forum. Didn't know there was a BT2. I kept checking my old "Favorite" bookmark which kept coming up with the same old message from Aug. Finally Googled and somehow wandered into a new posting on this new forum. Hurrah! You guys do a great service. Besides the info, I really missed your humor and general camaraderie. My husband is the one with PD and I am the one who ferrets out new info. He was dxed a year ago in July and is now more or less coming to terms with it. Thanks for being here for us caregivers, too!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, Mamafigure,
I remember your postings from the old place and always enjoyed your wisdom and musings. My husband has probably had PD for at least 5 or 6 years. Athlete who began having trouble with his legs. Couldn't run so well anymore, IT band, achilles, etc. Then started shuffling and the kicker, so to speak, came when he mentioned one day that his hand shook some at work after a long day. Just tired. Well, my mom had had PD so I was forced to confront the symptoms I hadn't wanted to acknowledge. It's a long story which I can offer to try to help others now, too, in the future with my limited experience. By no means an expert on PD, just lots of compassion AND a passion for getting the word out to help facilitate research and a cure. And use what we already know. Don't sweep the GDNFs under the rug. The public has such a short memory if it doesn't affect them and is just a tiny little headline on page 12. Anyway, presently we are trying to get in with one of the top neuros in this area at the university hospital. On the waiting list of 100's. I call twice a week to be the squeaky wheel who might be able to snag a cancellation. My husband currently has a wonderful nurse practitioner but needs more. He's not diligent with Sinemet dose, throws in some Requip once in awhile. Not a real program. The nurse prac. happens to work for a real $$$$$$ (in it for the money) neuro who just wants to dope folks up and get them out of the way. SO my husb. needs a REAL doc. We're more or less just begin. this journey in earnest and need some good help. Do have a wonderful support group which we helped get off the ground. Would be lost w/o them. Thanks, Mamafigure! ALso, great to see Steve and Rosebud and cs and Greg and BEM and on and on. Feel like I just bumped into some dear friends. Bless you all! Jane |
