recommended to me:
you can rent this movie on Amazon for 3.99 for 48 hours. It concentrates on lyme disease but there is much more to it...worth the rent. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...skin&x=18&y=18 hope there is discussion after you've had some time. it's pretty enlightening and pd is not excluded. madelyn merrill goozner is in it.

This is also available on Netflix. I watched it yesterday.
added thought: We lived in Connecticut for three years. In that time my husband was bitten three times and developed Lyme once. The doctor put him on antibiotics for two weeks and he is fine. Our neighbor also had Lyme but hers took longer to get over. Another neighbor said his dog had gotten Lyme. In Connecticut they recommended giving your dog a Lyme shot for prevention. These were the only two neighbors that we really knew. One summer I picked 9 ticks off the dog. I always checked her when entering the house. That must have been a bad year because I never found that many other summers. We lived in a wooded area, the woods were surrounding our house. It was very pretty but if I had it to do over would have chosen not to live in the woods. We also had to fight the poison ivy back. Our first summer there I had poison ivy all summer long because our doctor wouldn't give me steroids to stop it. My husband dug the poison ivy out but you always have to watch for it's return. I'm very allergic to it. I developed PD within a month or two of moving from Connecticut. I don't believe I was bitten but the neuro I saw in Indiana didn't check me for Lyme either. I really don't think my PD is really Lyme because it is so typical. My husband's symptoms were completely different. It was chills and fever and acted like the flu. I think he was delirious part of the time. We knew he'd been bitten and he had the bullseye rash. So it was easier to diagnose him. Our neighbor took longer because they didn't know she had been bitten. She was fatigued and didn't feel well. I probably will never know what caused my PD. |

I passed out at the hospital on the way to an MRI after an LP which confirmed viral aseptic meningitis later. Was tested for lyme but only antibody not bacterium. Was negative but not flaring so typical bad test scenario - I had been sick for 6 mos going doc to doc. This after a camping trip in tick/mosquito (mosq's can also transmit it) country. Was told I would likely never know what caused it. Now 10 years later and 8 relapses later am told herpes and lyme are the two biggies esp for recurring.
Shortly after dx w/pd based on very slight adrenalin based tremor (inderal kicked it so we knew why) and diminished sense of smell. The kicker is I DON'T have PD I now find after 10 yrs. Dystonia etc was sinemet caused, currently detoxing w/great difficulty. forgive my brevity, i'm slow tonight |
