The aqueous (water soluble) forms now are becoming very affordable. Things are changing with it.
Q-gel is one. I am trialing Qunol, 100mg a day and find it very energizing (but I don't have PD). Qunol is ubiquinol, and is also water soluble. (I decided to try this for my PN pain and muscle stiffness--since it was on sale at Costco for $29.00 for 120 caps. That is 4 months supply for me at one a day. The dry powder CoQ-10 or oil based ones are less soluble and don't get into the blood stream well. So massive doses are needed. The Q-gel type are so much better. So Google around and see what you can find, now. example: http://www.epic4health.com/noname.html

The original small (ie underpowered) study was published in 2002
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12374491 This study reported: ." During the study period, the group that received the largest dose of coenzyme Q10 (1,200 mg/day) had 44 percent less decline in mental function, motor (movement) function, and ability to carry out activities of daily living, such as feeding or dressing themselves. The greatest effect was on activities of daily living. The groups that received 300 mg/day and 600 mg/day developed slightly less disability than the placebo group, but the effects were less than those in the group that received the highest dosage of coenzyme Q10. .. The results of this study suggest that doses of coenzyme Q10 as high as 1,200 mg/day are safe and may be more effective than lower doses, says Dr. Shults. I am aware there have been larger clinical trials using COQ10. as per the first posting, that trial was halted. not enough of those coq10 depleted statin users in the trials, i guess.. My husband uses 1200 MGM of coQ10/day in 3 divided doses. madelyn

Hi Madelyn
Thank you for the response. What is interesting is that , similar to your husband, my dad also feels intense fatigue - especially in the morning after waking up. he has tremor in his hands apart from that. I did go back and read your older posting so I don't have to make you repeat stuff u have already said. I understand from your posting that your husband has discontinued use of statins and as long as he takes his daily dose of coq10, he is able to suppress his pd symptoms. and this has also enabled him to stop the progress of the pd so far. all this without taking PD medication. Also can you tell me how long he has been taking the coq10 supplement thanks so much shy Quote:
