Default Shape of alpha-syn key to a cure?

Well, this seems groundbreaking, though I'll have to take their word for it because I don't see quite how this would transform treatments. I think it will do a lot to help further understand- pathologies and perhaps eventually how to prevent alpha-syn from going rogue in the first place.

Default I agree- groundbreaking

Yes, It sounds like the focus of further studies could be on how to keep the integrity and stability of the four alpha-synuclein chains in a complete unit- rather than letting them separate into single chains where they can join together and become Lewey Bodies.
Seems like an encouraging step forward and we certainly need all the encouragement we can find.
I'm going to celebrate it! GO Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital!
Here's a very clear little video about the research

PD Online Research has a much more clear summary of findings. I guess other researchers area less exuberant because no one has yet been able to replicate their finding.

Protein comes in fours

Default

I know that they have been studying alpha-synuclein for at least 10 years, no doubt longer. One of the Movement Specialist I started seeing left her position for a job in alpha-synuclein research that long ago. I am curious as to how this team suddenly discovered that alpha-synuclein is structured so differently than previously thought. Was it new equipment? Was a different techinque used to look at it? Just one of those thing my warped little mind thinks it needs to know.
