Default this could be a very good discussion

article on Andy Grove, former Intel CEO. see comments and participate. This could be an opportunity to speak with others who do not have PD, but know the medical community and the business of PD.

I'm sorry to say we need a few more celebrities to be afflicted with this illness.

But perhaps i can assure you by saying that we've got some of the most accomplished people in our community.

Sergey Brin, cofounder of Google, whose mother and aunt have PD and he has the same genetic mutation. mike fox is being funded by google and intel founders. Mjff hears about it and next thing you hear they are funding it or will be shortly. Google will match any donation to mjff up to $50 million dollars.

i wonder if Bill Clinton has it altho he denies it. His left side is not up to the right side. Something is going on there.

Andy is blunt and doesn't care what people think. he once said that "when u are under my tent,u do what i say." He wrote a book called "only the paranoid survive". Toss in a parkinson personality with med addictions, mood altering, impulsivity, anxiety, pain, dyskinesia, and FATIGUE - it's no wonder he may be grumpy. lack of ability to talk or multi task makes you look like a "retard" - sorry but that's the word and i wouldn't use it on a child.

Trying to be a normal person is exhausting - quoting a magnet on my refrigerator. the article ends with andy saying he knows nothing will save his life so all he can do is stay focused on something and have the energy to do it.

mike fox takes first prize for showing it like it is. more of us are willing to put ourselves out there with symptoms because of his treating it with the dignity it deserves and just doing it anyway.

is that what you meant? Andy Grove is blunt, but he is a great ally and has contributed heavily to research, even inventing a tapping measurement machine that is currently in clinical trials.

Does that make you feel any better about it?

This was just a simple statement saying the more awareness to PD a new celeb with this illne$$ can bring -the better our long term outlook may be.

Maybe rather than more celebrities, we need huge numbers of us (those with PD) to stand up and make noise. I am rather tired of riding on the coattails of celebrities. If they have trouble doing the wash, they can hire somebody to do it. If people saw how it really affects John Doe and they realized that they could even have it and not know it (we lose 75-80% of our neurons before we even have a twitch in our finger); then and only then will those drug companies and/or researchers and donors take note!

We have a lot of work to do
