Call Your Member of Congress Today and Request Support for NIH FY2012 Funding!


In August, Congress passed the Budget Control Act of 2011, establishing the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, commonly referred to as the “Super Committee.” The Committee is a special congressional committee made up of twelve members of Congress – six Representatives and six Senators, equally divided between the Democratic and Republican parties. The Committee is charged with finding at least $1.2 trillion in deficit reductions over the next ten years. Their recommendations are due to Congress by November 23 – a failure to meet this deadline will result in potentially harmful, automatic across-the-board cuts. As the deadline for their recommendations rapidly approaches, we must act NOW and tell committee members that cuts that will hurt the Parkinson’s community are not acceptable!

Today, the National Health Council, a coalition of more than 100 national health-related organizations of which PAN is one, is issuing a national call to action. This joint effort is designed to amplify our collective voices by generating thousands of calls to the Hill in a concentrated period.
