Hi

I've been struggling for the past year to figure out what my dad has. Initially we thought stroke, then we thought NPH, now doctors think it's parkinsons. But not sure what kind. He lives in Thailand and I cannot speak with his doctor and my dad can be incoherent over the phone.

He mentioned he had an MRI that showed problems with his ventricles. So my best guess is that my dad could have vascular Parkinson. He has the shuffling gait, not hand tremors yet.

My dad suffers fro chronic high blood pressure... he has passed out many times when it became too high. He denies ever having a stroke. He can walk and talk and eat, but he's not the same. He started having problems at age 73.

He used to be a heavy smoker and drink lots of beer at gatherings.

Well, I was wondering if anyone that does have Parkinson's ever have whooping cough as a child or vaccinations or drink lots diet soda or drank a lot of alcohol when you were younger? I'm just trying to piece the puzzle as to how and why my father developed this. Thank you.

Oh one more thing. My dad did have a blow to his head by a golf club when he was in his 40s. Do you think that could have caused it 30 years after?

I barely survived whooping cough as a one-year old. And slipped on the ice as a 55-year old and knocked myself unconscious.
