I agree completely. For most of us there comes a time that we need something just to believe in. Totally irrelevant is whether it is true or not. Further a "dedication to fostering Truth" can stink to high heaven at times. If it isn't hurting anyone, and if it is not an "outsider" preying on one of our own, then be kind. But also remember that if one's own similar belief is received politely but without enthusiasm, that we all have the right to demur, as well.

johnt,
a proposed therapy with health consequences needs close scrutiny imho, not blind support, especially from a first time poster. 10 tablespoons of coconut oil is over 1000 calories, this isn't just a potential pd nacebo /placebo, it is going to have some affects and i think a dr./nurse/and or registered dietician should be in the loop. i'd rather ask the tough questions rather than see someone try this and have health problems because they thought "it must be okay" because it's on neurotalk, the anonymous 1st time poster is having wonderful results and no senior members questioned it. personally, if i was getting any significant improvement from a drug combo, supplement, activity, i'd try it for at least 6 months before even thinking of mentioning it to another pd'er and never on a message board unless i had established some credibility on that board, why would anyone believe me? that's just me. satwar should contact the BASTYR UNIVERSITY, I would if i had those kind of results. http://www.bastyr.edu/ they do nutritional studies. you should have seen the heated debates on the old braintalk message boards, especially on dopavite. |
