Tell us something we don't already know, but this is the place you can tell everyone.

This is the understatement of the year.

Agreed. It is an evil, vicious, tricky disease; it's the science fiction "Attack of the Alien Body Snatchers"; it is Medieval torture, it is a killer of good and of beautiful; it is a destroyer with no alibi. What does "it" get out of this?
Smallpox viruses and polio bacteria were a lot more honest; they were living creatures and needed a home, so they chewed on people. Fair game. And fair is fair, we identified these creatures, the germs and bacteria and viruses, and they were convicted in a court of science. They were killing us, so we declared war on polio, and we defeated polio; we declared war on smallpox, and the smallpox virus was exterminated.
Those were honest germs trying to make a living but they found us to be tasty, so we had to banish them from the planet. And there are still critters to go; malaria, for example, is much less widespread, but it is still there, and tuberculosis keeps trying to make a big come-back; the AIDS virus is keeping itself out of the news but it is still out there.
But Parkinson's is not a parasite needing a host. We want to declare war on it but we don't know what it is or what would defeat it. It's not a fair fight. It can get at us, but we don't even know what causes it or what would cause it to leave us alone. That's one reason that it sucks - it is a disease that does does not come out and fight openly; and it is a disease that has no alibi, no excuse. Pneumonia is bad news, but pneumonia germs are looking for a nice place to live. We have to stomp on them because they will hurt us, but it is not their intention to kill us. Parkinson's Disease is bereft of redeeming features, it has no purpose and it sucks.

Yes, it sucks. So does that fact that though it affects almost all of me all the time, hardly any of it seems to be noticeable to anyone else except poor balance, which makes people think I am drunk. Most of is is too bothersome or embarrassing to explain, so to people who ask I say I am fine. It's easier, and I don't have to cringe while I am saying it. If I said it sucks to most people they would think I was exaggerating, so thanks for giving me the opportunity to say it in the company of people I know will understand!

IT SUCKS!
