Default Dr. Enrico Fazzini

Does anyone know anything about this Dr.? He has an impressive "ad" about himself if you goggle his name. He claims to "live" for PD treatment and claims to be an expert at the "art" of prescribing medicenes for PD. He also notes how frustrated he is with the lack of new treatments available. He is an MDS and a neuropsycologist. Offices in NYC.

I normally get turned off by professionals "selling" themselves, but I must admit is "ad" is extremely impressive.

I would appreciate any insight or knowledge on this Dr.

Thanks

I am sorry, I am embarrassed to say I am not computer literate enough to do that, but if you google his name (Dr. Enrico Fazzini), there are many sites, the first one is the one where he had quite an impressive write up.

Has anyone seen this doctor? I am reviving an old thread, because I am determined to find out who the best movement disorder specialists are in NYC.

I’ve been following this forum for the three years since my pd was first diagnosed and find it invaluable I’m 64 years old and have been a patient of dr. Fazzini for almost three years and highly recommend him. I originally saw another neurologist , who made me wait in his packed office for almost an hour and a half, which was repeated the two subsequent visits. His diagnosis of Parkinsons took less than two minutes, and he told me as long as I could work not to take any medication. When I tried to tell him what supplements I took, he said it didn’t matter. I came across Dr. Fazzni’s web-site and made an appointment the same week. (very unusual in NYC…one highly recommended ny mag,”best doctor” told me the earliest appointment would be in four months). My first appointment with doctor Fazzini consisted of movement tests which he repeats every visit.. He also gave me an electronic nerve test, and had me make an appointment for an MRI. My symptoms were an increasing depression, stiffness and tremor in my left arm and hand, and a slight dragging of my left foot. He prescribed Sinemet 25/100CR, three times a day, and my depression disappeared, and my condition improved. Three years later, and there has been little progression. Though Dr Fazzini is a proponent of Agonists I had little tolerance for them. He didn’t try to convince me to continue, just told me to stop taking anything I have bad reactions to.(that includes Azilect which makes me depressed). When I told him I take dextromethorphan, he agreed with me that it blocks glutamate and told me to continue. When I asked him if I should take isradipine ,as I needed a blood pressure med anyway, and as he had previously authored an article on the potential pd benefits of calcium blockers, he told me it wasn’t proven and recommended a beta blocker instead (I take Metropolol). I might add that there is no wait to see him , the longest I ever spend in a waiting room is 15 minutes There is an on-site chiropractor, massage therapist, and physical therapist. Raymond, the physical therapist is amazing.
My only critique of Dr Fazzinni is that he doesn’t seem to be as interested in non-drug therapies. But that’s why this Forum is invaluable. My current regimen of supplements are: vitamin C, b-complex , Curcumen,Citicolene,Ubiquinol, PQQcaps,Ginger,Beta Carotene,Magnesium Threonate, Grape Seed extract, and MCT oil. I also take some Aminos, dextromethorphan, and fermented Papaya cookies(thank you Aunt Bean) I try to stay away from dairy, wheat, sugar, and MSG., and noticeably do worse when I don’t. I’ve been a painter for the past 40years and art probably does me the most good. It;’s my first post…sorry if it’s too long.

Mark,

Again, thank you for the good information on your MDS, Dr. Fazzini. I tried to send a private message, but couldn't, so I will just say thank you. Right now, I am comparing the MDS's at Cornell Weill and NYU.
