I wanted to share this article from today’s Huffington Post with you all – it features an interview between Marlo Thomas (who wrote the article) and Michael J. Fox. Their conversation centers on his perspective and role as an activist and a philanthropist, in which he discusses his experiences following his PD diagnosis as well as the evolution and work of the Fox Foundation.

Not sure if you've seen this, but Koala posted it after it aired on Australian TV. I remember crying because I found it all so "honest".

I love the way MichAel J. Referred to us As "our community.". And we are all in this together, and together we will get out - successfully. Thanks for the much needed inspiration. As many of you know, a group of us have been working ona book for about 3 years. It"s a unique book in that it is high in graphic presentation, and most of the content came from your posts back in Braintalk, and here in NeuroTalk. Like Mike's interview with one of my favorite people, Marlo Thomas, I found Michael J's answers more genuine and sensitive Than I have before. We - your community- need that. I read about your having contributed a rather impressive lump of funding for the MJFF foundation. Michael, however. Has selfessly shared of himself for research. And hats off to MJFF for his undying-advocacy example and for sharing the fruits of his success in funding research for Parkinson's . And I agree with good foundAtions like the MJFF sponsors for funding the PPMI for identifying bio makers) study was still pursuing reliable paths from market to shelf. But the thing that keeps me nipping at the heels of research for PD is a close reality check with my grandchildren. We asked the oldest in our family what she would do if she won the Lottery (which recently was. Nearly $500 Million, or a half billion). She's 9 years old and didn't hesitate when she said, "I'd find a cure to.make Nana feel better". To summarize, kids know much more than we think they do!
