MJFF is sponsoring (co-funded by 11 partners so far) a study, PPMI to attempt to verify the lead candidate biomarkers of progression discovered thus far. http://www.michaeljfox.org/living_PPMI_qaBiomarkers.cfm
You can find full documentation about the study (which is underway now) at www.ppmi-info.org Looking through the study design will provide details about the lead candidate markers being evaluated as well as all the clinical, biological and neuroimaging data being collected, stored and shared with the research community. http://www.ppmi-info.org/study-design/ Finally, even though the study is only half recruited thus far, data is being made available real time. There have been over 18,000 downloads thus far--pretty amazing--from literally all over the world. So, the PPMI study is already a critical asset in the efforts to establish a biomarker of PD. Many thanks to the volunteer subjects (patients and non-patients) for being part of such an important effort! Debi |
