http://www.pharmaceutical-technology...feature123397/ New molecules targeting c-Abl protein ... I truely believe this is the real neuroprotective hope for PD. You don't even need to do trials on humans to proof this. If you know a certain protein is causing damage to your neurons, then targeting these proteins will slow down the progression. The only reason to conduct a trial is to verify whether this new product has severe side-effects or not. And I think these meds are not too far away anymore. According to the CEO of Intellect Neurosciences he expects a disease modifying drug for Alzheimer in 2015: http://www.biomedreports.com/2010091...ing-drugs.html Very interesting and promising, even though I realize that in past people have been very optimistic with their predictions. But now I do have the feeling that scientist are understanding the mechanisms in PD and AD better and therefore designing medication with more prospects. |

This is another very promising neuroprogressive med, again targeting toxic protein involved in the degenaration of the neurons:
http://www.michaeljfox.org/newsEvent...cle.cfm?ID=487 It is called ReS9-S7 and is one of the most promising products according to the Michael J fox foundation. Clinical phase 1 already started in 2009/2010. |

I think so too. I think we already have such drugs but we just have to wait for them to go through all the phases of clinical trials. |
