This might sound weird but I just found some reports claiming that fasting triggers the brain to create BDNF:
http://www.drmirkin.com/public/ezine022612.html And here you have this guy claiming that fasting and exercise done PROPERLY can even do a better job: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...lly-young.aspx though I realize that this Mercola guy is a bit fishy. This is a study about exercise and release of BDNF in human brain: http://ajpregu.physiology.org/conten....2009.full.pdf Last edited by Diego24; 06-13-2012 at 03:55 PM. |

Further resarch showed me that the possible neuroprotective effects of exercise on PD are known a long time ago. I found articles about this from 2004 !!! We are now 8 years later. So I wonder why no clinical trials have been conducted to sort this out ??? Companies and organizations are looking for all these crazy meds for neuroprotectiveness ... while the most simple neuroprotectiveness could be fasting and exercise. I just can't believe this is not yet tested over several clinical trials. I am just shocked and dissapointed.

Diego-
Fasting is a very tantalizing subject vis-a-vis PD and has been discussed here a good deal. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a connection between our glucose handling, insulin, electrolyte shifts resulting from insulin, sinemet's documented tie to insulin resistence, and so on. Here is a forum search to wander around in- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/se...hquery=fasting In particular yu might be interested in the long threads which tend to be "richer". -Rick
