I was reading this and to me this sounds even more promising than the a-synuclein targeting studies. The a-synuclein targeting studies do not target the misfolded a-synuclein in the brain, but just ALL a-synuclein. That's why I am not fond of that strategy. In this article they confirm my concern.
Anyway, while I was reading this, I got an (possible crazy) idea ... Isn't it possible to destroy/revert the misfolding by means of radio-/sound-/... waves ? I guess waves can get far into the brain. If a correct wave frequency can be found that reverts/hinders aggregation and this doesn't seem to affect the rest of the brain, this might be an easy solution for PD. I don't know whether this is possible, nor whether this is a viable idea. I was just looking for some research on it, but I couldn't find this. The best I could find was some reports that low frequency micro-waves have a neuroprotective effect.
