Getting GDNF passed the BBB is a difficult task. Tests are going on to achieve this via surgery. But this company ArmaGen found a way to get GDNF in the brain without surgery, hacking past the BBB. They tested it successfully on mice. But now, they tested it also on nonhuman primates. Results were not good. Monkeys got sick, one even needed to be euthanised. Besides that, no motor symptom improvement. What a pity. Such a beautiful technology to get passed the BBB and then you get this bad result. I hope they can manage to improve this method and make it work.
