These 2 proteins fix the clumping of aggretated proteins, protect the neurons and remove HD symptoms from mice with Huntington disease. Scientist claim these proteins could also be key for PD. |

The more I read the article, the more I get thrilled about its result. It saves the impared mitochondria in HD and restores their function. Mitochondria in trouble cause clumpings seen in HD. As PD is also the result of problems with mitochondria, this is one of the most promising results I have seen combined with the GDNF results and CLR01 clumping prevention. I know this still has te be tested on people. But seeing the results I am extremely positive about it. At the moment I even believe this could be the real cure. All other things I have read were promising, but I never saw them as a real cure but mearly something that could slow down progression very much and improve quality of life drastically. But this result is completely different. For the first time I have the feeling that the cure could have been found.

Apparently this PGC-1alpha is old news for most of you. I just found posts from 2007 in which you were all already discussing meds for diabetics to increase this protein. But if this was known in 2007 already, then why is this such a big news all of a sudden ? Are these scientist bad informed ??
To add even more to my confusion, I found following result: https://www.michaeljfox.org/foundati...p?grant_id=316 To our surprise, PGC-1α expression failed to protect against a mitochondrial toxin (MPTP). Furthermore, PGC-1α on its own caused a dramatic decrease in expression of a key enzyme involved dopamine synthesis (tyrosine hydroxlase; TH), as well as a decrease in a potentially protective protein (BDNF). |
