Default Mucuna Pruriens in bulk

Has anyone tried this in bulk powder form? If so, how did you take it?

It is being sold on Amazon in bulk; I like that we can fine tune our meds and skip the Carbidopa for a change with this formulation.

I am just not sure if I should mix it with water or buy capsules. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Laura

Rick suggested getting this from Banyon Botanicals in the USA, it is organic and good quality. We just put it in a glass of water, trying to fill capsules is very hard and the stuff spills everywhere and stains like you would not believe. I guess you could do that outside, but then you have more pills to swallow...it's a tradeoff and I guess each person has to decide for themselves which is best.

If you just add it to a glass of water, might want to throw in some OJ or something, it's not very tasty on its own

I bought a capsuling machine, and capped about 60 doses, and I have taken as many as 5 capsules at a time, and nothing happens

I have found that mixing it wiih a little bit of water works best for me..It doesnt taste very good..YUCK!!..But it works wonders for me, and I have quality on time all day when taken with my Stalevo..I take about a half tea spoon full

Laura-
There has been a lot of discussion on this one, so you might want to "search" when you have an afternoon to kill. Things that come to mind in no particular order-
1) Best way to take it is to measure dry powder into empty pill bottle. When needed, add water, cap, and shake. Toss it down like a shot of whiskey.
2) About the warning re staining- amazing stuff! It will stain ceramic instantly. One thing that works is "Oxyngal" stain remover.
3) Like a lot of beans, there is an enzyme that will mess with your GI system if used regularly. Toast it in a low oven to deactivate.
4) Dosage reported in published research is much too high. Experiment.
5) Traditional useage includes as an aphrodisiac. It is. For both genders. As one of our number quipped, she knew something was up when her ex-husband started looking good. Takes about two weeks to max effect. Leave the pizza delivery boy alone unless he's legal. -Rick

Thanks to you all! I was going to search the archives but honestly was hoping a condensed update, and you did not disappoint

Wonder if we can make this a sticky?

Default mucuna research

I can't post links but there's what looks to be a thorough summary of mucuna research on examine.com - look for 'Mucuna Pruriens'

Among other things this says a rat study found that "low dose Mucuna paired with benserazide (peripheral dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor) was able to suppress symptoms associated with Parkinsons while low dose Levodopa + Benserazide was not"

Has anyone taken mucuna with benserazide?

Also, is it possible to buy mucuna ready roasted?

I get great results with fava juice (juice from the pod only w/o the bean) taken together with low dose sinemet.
I was advised by an Aryuvedic doc once that Terrestris Tribulus might assist ldopa uptake in mucuna.

regards,
md
