Filling out the MJF research questionnaire, there is a question if you have had genetic testing, did you test positive for any of these mutations? Where is that information in 23's report? If I have red bars on marker effects section of the Parkinson's disease risk page, did I test positive for those mutations? Thanks!

23andMe only tests for a select few mutations; currently I believe there are 18 and counting. The most common one they screen for is LRRK2 which if you are YO should not be "positive". The best thing about 23andMe is that once they have your genome, they do continue to test you for new things as they come up, but I don't think we'll ever get a full PD test panel. You mention red bars. Yes, those show increased risks. Sounds like you are Disease Risk page; scroll down until you find PD and click. This will explain more on your test results. Hope this helps a little. Laura |
