I think I have solved the portability problem I had with Mucuna and the amino acid mixture. You will need a 60 dram pill vial with a child-proof lid so it stays tight. You can get this from any pharmacy. Into the vial you place and keep your powder dose. When it comes time to take it, add some Ora-Blend SF, a pharmaceutical suspending/flavoring agent, also available from your pharmacy or they can order it. Then shake well and drink it. It is tasty and the Ora-Blend SF keeps it from settling out so it is smooth, too. The plastic pill vial prevents it from sticking to the sides.
Ora-Blend SF cost me $27 for a pint and I used about 2 ounces for the dose so keep this for when you are out and use applesauce at home. |

On the probability that it contains a suspending agent, I added Mucuna powder to almond milk and blended it. It turns out that almond milk has a couple kinds of gums and it turns out very well, so that's another option.

I would just like to add that some people are very sensitive to sorbitol and sorbate salts, even in the small amounts found in sugar free chewing gum or breath fresheners/mints. Even Hershey's (and even Russell Stover and Whitman's) puts sorbitol in their non-dietetic candies...which was a horrible event for me on a camping trip one summer! Hershey's told me via phone that they don't have to put warnings on packages unless the sorbitol is more than 50gm/serving. I believe people can have significant bowel reactions with amounts that are very small.
Foods containing sorbitol are common now because sorbitol is a humectant, and keeps things moist and chewy. It is now showing up on IBS websites as a potential cause/trigger for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbitol If you are one of those unfortunates, beware that Ora-Blend SF could cause significant diarrhea or upset. If you are the constipated type, you probably would welcome Ora-Blend SF.

Movingngrooving, The only thing I can figure out is to negotiate with your provider for a cheaper price.
As for sorbitol, I quit using it and now use orange juice, preferably pulpy, as it works quite well as a suspending agent. |

Gerry,
Just curious how you are doing on the Amino Acid Protocol? Are you still on it and is it still working the same? Are you still on the same dosage? I want to try it but I'm hesitant because I've tried Mucuna tons of times but have not had much of a response? Not quite sure why I don't respond better to it? Hope your doing well. |

I am doing fine. I haven't changed my dose or protocol. I didn't respond at first either, but with the Hinz protocol it takes some time to find the balance. The good news is no side effects, and slower or halted progression though I haven't verified this. The bad news is that it is inconvenient and fairly expensive. Oddly enough I seem to be improving. My sleep benefit is stronger and my evening on time is getting longer. I am not sure what to attribute this to since I experiment with so many things but there it is. |

I may choose to try it with Dr. Kalish since he is in my neck of the woods.
Would you recommend him? How long before you responded to the Mucuna? Thank you for your reply. |

It's hard to remember how long it took to respond but it was about five months I think. Of course, mine was slower because I submitted the tests every couple of weeks. |
