Hi Gerry,
I hope you are still doing great with the Mucuna-Tyrosene-D5-Cys protocole. I was diagnosed in 2003, refused to undergo regular treatment and tried several alternative treatments, from acupuncture to stem cell treatment in Germany and finally mucuna and aminoacids. A question for you: I have been in an almost similar protocol for over a year, with 1 additional teaspoon of Mucuna, 8 instead of your 7, D5 two daily capsules and Cys also six per day... but... I have not been doing great and I believe the problem is the Tyrosene, which I am actually in 6 Tablespoons daily. My doctor is away until the end of the month and I strongly believe that my intake of Tyrosene is way too high. Do you happen to know what an excess of Tyrosene can produce? I am not okay, on and off and not doing great, even though I went through a lot of laboratory tests, 6 of them, with no much improvement. I am still experimenting in the dosages with my doctor's approval. What is your dosage nowadays? Any information will be greatly appreciated!. Thank you! |

Tyrosine is meant to eliminate the on-off episodes but the dose needs to be calibrated. BTW, the doctor's website has changed a lot. See www.neurosciencemyths.com.

Hey Gerry,
I am on the Hinz Protocol and doing very well. Started last summer 2014 and I'm still tweaking my dose a little. It took about 5 or 6 months to get me to what I describe as a night and day difference from where I started. My current dose is as follows: 37 grams of Mucuna (about 15 tsp) divided into 6 doses every 3 hrs. 32 grams of Tyrosine (4 tbl) mixed in with my mucuna, so it's divided into 6 doses as well. 3 capsules 5-HTP and 6 capsules L-Cysteine per day. Plus some B6 and Folic Acid. As you can see I'm on the higher side of the dosing averages. There in lies the problem. The Mucuna cost is killing me. I found a good quality tyrosine source that's much cheaper. I use about 4 tubs of Mucuna (270G) a month that cost me almost $200 a tub after you figure in shipping. That's about $800 a month just for Mucuna. I know you are a retired pharmacist and you've been able to purchase yours directly for a much better price. There was a recent price increase, I'm not sure if you experienced that. What are you paying for your Mucuna these days? Do you have any ideas at all on how I can cut my costs? I also don't feel really comfortable having only one source for Mucuna. What if they went out of business or something crazy. This works so well and I feel so much better I could never go back to the old meds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michael |

They raised my Mucuna from $95 a tub to $218 and that is supposed to be wholesale! They said they were losing money at the old price. It looks like they are charging you less than me. I have the same concerns as you. I am afraid that the new prices will cause people to abandon what is a good program and drive them out of business. I am interested in cheaper sources, too. Gerry

I wonder about the quality of the product. The one I use is white and tasteless but the one in the photo, assuming that's what it is a picture of, is dark colored. I love the Chinese. My late wife was from China and I am still close to her family. So it is not prejudice for me to say that I wouldn't trust their herbs which the FDA says are contaminated with heavy metals, etc. from a very polluted nation. If I buy from them, and the price is tempting, I will need some independent certificate of analysis. BTW, my wife would have agreed.

IS 37 GRAMS OF 40% MUCANA 14.8 GRAMS OF L-DOPA? how in the world can anyone take 14.8 grams of l-dopa in one day? it has to be less than 40%. maybe i'm missing the boat. heck, for $800 a month you could buy a green house and grow your own or pay a chemist to take bulk mucana and concentrate it or do it yourself. |
