This week I celebrate twelve years at MJFF. In my own quest to better understand how our organization should work to make the greatest impact on better treatments, I have not only had to learn about science but about the business of science--how can investing in research actually lead to marked improvements in human health? What does the path for drug development look like and what can be done to really move the dial for patients?

Our communications team spends a great deal of time trying to crystallize these complex topics with patients, researchers and advocates in the PD field. Admittedly, these complicated concepts are pretty challenging to convey. Today we launched a new video focused on understanding drug development. We've attempted to condense complex material into short frames. We are using visual illustrations and analogy to enhance the experience.

I'm excited to share this (and eager to hear your thoughts)...and would welcome feedback on whether this format would be useful for other education topics.

I really like it, Debi -- I think animation is a good way to tell a story. The graphics are strong, and it's easy to follow.

I feel bad that you have to spend money to explain how long, hard, and expensive the road to new treatments is. I don't know why anyone thinks it should be easier than it is, or that the research is not looking in all the right, and wrong, places. But it is a message that needs to be heard.

I love the video! Entertaining and informative.

i like it becausse it simultaneously connected and presented the visual graphic with the content. Instead of looking at a bunch of people who aren't related to the content (as in many photographs on websites).
