Default Great medical mind passes at 92

The father of bone marrow transplants has passed away, here's the link:

http://www.inquisitr.com/370421/e-do...ts-dead-at-92/

and another:

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/1...est=latestnews

Can't help but notice that this man was ridiculed and mocked for the first TWO DECADES of this treatment: now, bone marrow transplants help/save over 60,000 leukemia patients a year. Thank God he persisted, else where would all those patients be now...

Lurking -

I had the great honor of meeting Dr. Thomas on several occasions as he lent his voice to the stem cell wars of the last decade. He lived in Seattle and worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (retired). I remember him as being articulate, friendly, humorous and passionate about the science. I couldn't believe I was talking with a Nobel Laureate, and that he was still taking the time to speak out! I will always remember the experience, and am grateful for his work.

Default Yes a man amongst the few....

Who doggedly pursue that which seems " wrong" amongst his peers. Just as an aside, bone cancer is mainly the result of strontium 90 from radioactive fallout contamination of this planet. This element was littered all over earth during atmospheric and other testing of the first atomic bombs. Just pointing out an irony of his Nobel prize.
