Get it to us, quickly and cheaply, before we are the last generation of humans that had to go down with this rotten disease. The PWP in our world deserve better than what we have now, simply because we are forced to live with profound disability, personal loss, poverty and social marginalization, for s large portion of our lives, and that gets just downright sad! Almost sadistic.
Years ago I said if they can't fix us up, create "leper" colonies for us where we can be a more cohesive community, helping to heal the scars that each one of us has and not die in isolation amongst those who have no idea of our problems, or waste our life's savings, dashing the hopes of our families, for our continued care. If you can't or refuse to get serious about a cure for PD, then just allow us a dignified, caring place to spend our last years free of worry where our next friend and our next dollar is going come from. In the end we all need intense help, I can now see that I am starting to live like " Fred", (y'all remember fred, no? His trailor, cats, and dour yet accepting existence? only not quite to the level that he did before he passed, but so many of us will end up this way, between a rock and a hard place, whose true needs are understood only by one of "our own kind", independent of social status, wealth, even like ability. If we can't be cured, at least we could. Have "fun" |

I won't pretend to understand all of the scientific mumbo jumbo with stem cells but... is it just me or do we keep moving backwards on this. This post link seems to put us backward into chimps. I though we were already on to humans? Did I miss something here? Or were the human trials so awful that they had to regroup and go back to monkeys? Maybe go back to mice? What gives with this? I'm with you... let's get a move on it. I for one would like a cure or at least a better treatment in my lifetime. I don't want to picture myself living in a PD leper community though it would be better than being homeless shaking and leaning up against a building in downtown LA having people think I have the Dts instead of Parkinson's.
