Default Carnosine increases efficiency of DOPA therapy of Parkinson's disease

Does anybody take Carnosine? I have just read that it may be helpful for PD: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18729814

Carnosine [corrected] increases efficiency of DOPA therapy of Parkinson's disease: a pilot study.

Abstract

The addition of the neuropeptide carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) as a food additive to the basic protocol of Parkinson's disease treatment results in significant improvement of neurological symptoms, along with increase in red blood cell Cu/Zn-SOD and decrease in blood plasma protein carbonyls and lipid hydroperoxides, with no noticeable change in platelets MAO B activity. The combination of carnosine with basic therapy may be a useful way to increase efficiency of PD treatment.

Default Carnosine

I have taken carnosine for years, even before the PD diagnosis. I don't know what, if anything, it has contributed yet though it combats cellular senescence and glycation. Time will tell about that. I don't take prescription drugs like Sinemet (I do the Hinz protocol) so I can't say if it helps that either.

How long have you had PD symptoms? And how long have you been using the Hinz protocol? Is it working? I'm intrigued.

I've been taking it since April and despite being still in phase 1 with continued dose adjustments and tests it has made me almost normal. I was diagnosed in June 2011. If you do a search you will find previous posts on the subject by me and others.
