Default Weekly Check-In April 22-28, 2007 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone..Welcome New Community Members!..Set a spell..Take your shoes off..Y'all come back now!..Hear?.. ..Please do continue to join us, and contribute!

Nice day today..in the 70's!..We've got a good stretch of weather ahead of us..Too bad Im sat inside most of the day because Ive got a nasty cold..My YOPD support group was this morning, and I really wanted to go, but I couldnt go because of the way I was feeling, and I sure didnt want to pass this cold on to somebody else..Its not good to get anything on top of having pd..I went outside for a couple of hours and finished a fishtrap that I was building, andNwent back inside and that was it for the day..I bought some Alka-Seltzer Cold daytime/nightime, and took two doses, and I happened to look at the ingredients and it has DM in it..So I stopped taking it..Not because I was taking too much, but I would be taking more than the therapudic dose of between 5-8 mg daily..I have fluid movements despite the nasty cold..But I do not feel good at all..I very seldom have had a cold or a fever in years..now Ive been sick twice in about 6 weeks

My cat is doing better all the time..Her appitite is back to normal, and the Vet elevated her insulin to 4 units twice a day, and that dose should bring her into the ballpark..She went to the Vet on Thursday, and her blood sugar was down to 260 from 360

So, thats my story..Im looking foward to shaking this cold and enjoying the good weather

How was your week?

Steve, you are certainly right about our weather here in the NE. Yesterday, as the next days will be, was gorgeous. As the sign at one of the apple orchard farms said yesterday, "Now this is Spring!" After so many cold and yuckie days.

So you had to stay home yesterday! Get well soon

I cleaned out my tiny backyard. The previous owner left a huge mess in there. I made many trips to the trash. After getting all the dead leaves out, I finally have a clean slate...nothing but dirt So now I get to become a gardener

I have bought some plants, along with my favorite

Did receive a date for a Q&A with the Ceregene surgeon...along with a few other patients they have recruited as potential trial participants...May 2nd. So, I will be making the trip to Philadelphia that day to query the surgeon in order to make the decision to join the clincal trial, or move back to pursuing an early intervention DBS.

SPRING IS HERE!

Went to a NPF sponsored PD symposium this past Saturday here in the Orange County area of California, just south of Los Angeles. About 400 people showed up. They had some good speakers and the guest of honor was Janet Reno. She was nice, kind, gracious - and tall! I'm 6'4" and she's right up there. It was a good event although nothing groundbreaking was discussed.

For the last two months, I've been getting sick and I cannot figure out why, nor can the doctors. Headaches and nausea on an almost daily basis. It's absolutely brutal. During a 58 day period, I was sick 54 of them. Not fun. I went through a stretch recently with 5 days of feeling back to normal, but have been sick again for the last 3 days. Doctors ran a full blood work-up but everything came back better than normal, so they have no answers. It's very frustrating because it just hits me out of nowhere and is pure hell.

I'm hoping to stay healthy enough to make the trip to New York this week for the Unity Walk, although I've been watching the weather for that area and it doesn't look good. Cold and rainy. Ugh.

If anyone from here is going to the Unity Walk, it would be great if you went to my website (listed below) and put my cell number into your phone. Then give me a call on walk day and hopefully we can at least meet and say hello in person. That would be great. I'm not sure what's in store for me since I won that contest with Teva pharmaceuticals and they have us pretty well booked Friday night and Saturday, so we'll see...

Hang in there everyone and have a great week!

Hi Todd,

I'm sorry to hear of your nausea and can't help but ask if you are taking requip? It's the only med that nauseates me. Hope you are feeling back to normal soon.

Steve, believe it or not, I'm on Alec's side. He shouldn't have called his daughter a pig, but whoever released that tape to the media is trying to ruin his career....way below the belt also. However, opinion aside, your photo is hilarious.

Jaye is visiting and I am making her go out to watch a meteor shower on the beach at midnight. As I have been telling her, "You only live once." She keeps mumbling about a hip replacement but I'm not listening.

Paula

Nope - not Requip or Mirapex. I eliminated all meds except for my generic Sinemet and yet I'm still getting sick. I have heard from some people that they are sensitive to Sinemet and either can't take it, or they get sick from taking it after time, even though in the beginning they were okay. I've been on it about one year now, so maybe my body just decided it didn't like it anymore? Frustrating...

And Jaye, listen to Paula and get out there and watch the meteor shower. I don't know if we only live once, but might as well enjoy every moment now just in case we do in fact only live once. Why waste the opportunity?

See some of you in NY I hope!

Default yee hah

Hey y'all !

Monday and Tuesday my class is performing the "Wild, Wild West." Yee-hah! We are even doing a square dance. I had red gingham skirts made for all of the girls and bought harmonicas for the boys. What fun!

Friday we are having field day where the kids (and sometimes the teachers) run races. Another fun day. (Lots of Love)

Hope you feel better soon, Todd.

Default Cough cough cough.....

I've got a nasty cold too. It arrived very quickly, I woke up Thursday feeling fine, and by lunch I was coughing my head off and feeling just awful. But I'm getting better. The lovely weather helps.

Very immature and very mean and hurtful, that telephone call that never should have been made, and never should have been heard by that poor child, or by us. Such selfish parents, those two 'stars'.

Your kind of stars are what to see and what to talk about, Paula. I hope you and Jaye see a spectacular show.

Today my husband found little Hazel's stuffed toy, Lemon, a small white plush cat that disappeared during Easter. Lemon was crammed into the ivy under the fence. Hazel must have hidden it when she hid Easter eggs. Hazel is not a forgetful child.... and she was not upset when Lemon went missing. Hmmmmm. I wonder if Hazel meant for it to stay hidden in the ivy...

All the best,

birte

Default Sorry

Sorry to hear people have nasty colds. Here in the South West of the U.K we have had a wonderful spell of sunny weather. We live less than a mile from the sea and it has been wonderful:enough to make your heart sing.I really admire you Carolyn for putting yourself forward for these trials.People who are just starting down the long difficult road of Parkinsons have much for which to thank people like you.

Default As much as I wanted to...

Paula had already taken me to the beach yesterday. The surf pounded and the breeze cleaned the air and the sun nourished our skin. In the evening I was still tired of limb and snappish of disposition, and I knew that the outing would be more happily done while I got some healing rest.

Paula has been a more-than-wonderful hostess during this, my tenth or so visit here, even seeing me through the last of withdrawal from pain meds that I needed for osteoarthritis pain and hip surgery. I'm almost there, and will be happy to be fit company once again. Apologies to friends I've neglected meanwhile--it's my fault entirely--or rather the drugs'--and not you or anything you said or did.

What am I Going on about? It's another lovely day in the Sunshine State!!

Best to all,
Jaye
