Thumbs up Saffron ..a simple crocus???

I just came across the book "Healing Spices" by Bharat B Aggarwall PhD
In this book he states that researchers in India fround that the cocetin in the crocus sativus saffron threads protected the dopamine generating brain cells and stabilized dopamine levels. That crocetin is helpful in preventing PD and has potential in combating it. It is one of the most expensive spices in the world and also one of the most adulterated in the market place.
Something to look into ????
