Default Generic Stalevo

Hi. My father has Parkinson's. He takes Stalevo 150. It is very expensive. He will hit the dognut hole very early this year. I help him. We live together. I saw some posting on this site about generic Stalevo from walmart. The posts said the generic was actually brand name Stalevo repackaged by Caraco. Does anyone take this generic from Walmart? Is it true that it is brand name Stalevo repackaged? Any imput will be well appreciated. Thank you.

Here is a link with a copy of the insert:
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...mnB2xSIWdI6HfQ

Zoom in on the very end of it and you will see that Caraco and Orion are the same company (subsidiaries)

This link discusses it..
http://parkinsons-disease.emedtv.com...c-stalevo.html

It appears that Orion (parent company) provides the ingredients to Caraco so no FDA action is warranted.
You should be able to ask you pharmacist which brand they carry. There are not many generics yet.

Type in Carbidopa into the search here at FDA and the listing will come up for Stalevo --it is the first in the long list of products:

Thank you soo much for the validation of this generic Stalevo information. I really do appreciate it. This will help alot over the course of the year after my father hits the donut hole. When he hits it I may even buy it from Canada. It might be cheaper that way. Anyway thanks again.

Default Stalevo125

Hello, I am in the same predicament, get the name brand from Walmart, and will be in the donut hole April Walmart cash cost is now 800.00 for 1 month supply
It takes over an hour for the Stalevo to kick in and sometimes I get symptoms from the med, Goldens help does your father have any problems with the Stalevo?
I am looking into what may work and not be as costly, I take Gabapentin for pain and it works and allowed me to walk.
Thanks for any input on the Stalevo
Joyce

Stalevo seems to work for him o.k..What kind of symptoms do you get? I could ask him. He is 84 and he has other problems as well, which inhibits him along with the Parkinson's. He's had blood clotts in the past and his leg is always swollen. I was going to get him a lymphatic leg pump but his Ins. turned him down. Recently, I was going to get him a used pump but the doctor said its not a good idea now. Also a month ago I found out that his corroted arteries are blocked. 90% one side & 80% the other. Doctors said he's not a surgery candidate. Anyway I'm going to give him the generic stalevo from walmart(its Caraco I checked). $368 if he had to pay cash. If I didn't answer your questions feel free to ask.
