Default Retirement and disability.

I am a former firefighter. My Lieutenant from the FD put himself through law school and this past year ran for the State House against a someone who was in the majority party and was already slated to be the Speaker of the House when they took office this year. My lieutenant won the election and what a ruckus it was, he was a newcomer in politics and defeated the old guard so to speak. Well today (3/21) there is a debate on the floor of the Florida HOR on a bill that would remove disability provisions for non job related disability from the State of Florida Retirement System. This is huge, in other words in my case I would have worked and then had no rights to collect my benefits! I know this may not impact any of you but it goes to show what is being done without our knowledge, SCARY! Right now you can "medical out" and get what you have regardless of vesting, etc. This bill will leave you with nothing!

I'm not worried. I have a sizeable nest egg tucked away in a bank in Cyprus...Insured, too.

Default Love your sense of humor!

Although, I feel terrible for those people over there. Why save and try to be financially responsible if it can just be seized and taken away?
