Default At price hope?

A number of years ago I worked for the FD as a paramedic. One Saturday morning, sun shining, it was a beautiful day when we were called to assist the police department with a search. We went to the scene, a large house in one of the better neighborhoods in our district. We were told that both parents were real estate agents and came home unable to find their 16 y/o son. He had gotten into an argument with the stepfather the night before and they thought he had gone to a friends house for the night. We contacted all his friends with no results. Searched the neighborhood, unable to even find his bicycle which was kept in a metal shed behind the house. Opening the shed door only to find him curled up on a sleeping bag dead. His body in obvious writhing and contractures from the poison he drank. His face covered in dried vomit. My point is this. For some reason that young man did not have the hope that he would find love and understanding some 20 feet away at the back door. What do we have when we are denied treatments that are life changing if not life saving. We are left to deteriorate to bedridden and unable to care for ourselves. What an undignified way to live in this once great country of ours.
