Default fecal transplants and bacteria

OK, so I am subscribing to Dr. Williams' newsletter because a friend told me the last several issues have been about the importance of bacterial balance in the body...I knew that would get Rick's attention!

But seriously, apparently some studies were done on babies and they did some bacterial tests at birth and found that babies do, in fact, have bacteria IN them at birth, which means they get it from the mother (duh) during gestation. They followed the babies for four years and found that bacteria is key to health, those with healthy gut bacteria were not sick much, those that didn't, were. Too bad they did not have the benefit of maternal prenatal health history as well.

An additional issue reported that kids with autism have a different bacteria in their gut than other kids....we know many autistic kids are celiacs to some degree and diet makes a huge difference....who knows if the bacteria is from vaccines directly, a normal bacteria that has been mutated by a vaccine, or the kids were born with the bacteria but they are looking into this further. I don't think they even know what the bacteria is!

Still another issue discussed fecal transplants which we have discussed here as well, lots of issues there but veterinarians have been using these successfully for decades and they are now doing some research involving this for people. Who can possibly imagine a business model for supplying healthy poo? But apparently it may be in the future. I can just see the marketing campaigns now: Hold that flush!

I can't wait to get my back issues but what it sounds like from a lot of this is hey, it took years for our bodies to develop PD, one thing led to another which led to another, our body and brain in particular are exquisitely complex, so I think it logical that reversing that is not going to come overnight or even over months in a pill. Look at type 2 diabetes: lots of folks have it, and many who radically change diet and exercise can actually become non-diabetic. I am beginning to wonder if the same might be true for PD. We are horribly unbalanced and have been striving to obtain equilibrium, but we dont' know how to achieve that and the constant onslaught of pills only makes things worse.

Once I get my back issues dealing with these things I'll share what I learn, but in the meantime, sounds like we all need to be eating a lot of yogurt, sauerkraut, onions, and garlic...
