I find this announcement in what appears to be a commercial trade magazine confusing. Whereas the NIH Clinical trials.gov announcement lists John D. Heiss as Principal Investigator, the article link posted above lists a Dr. Bankiewicz as leader of a study at UCSF. The viral vector in this study was prepared by a company called uniQure under a license with Amgen. Dr. Heiss is mentioned almost incidentally. This article claims that Bankiewicz' team has already treated the first subject, whom they do not identify. Perhaps the uniQure article simply gives further information on a multi-center trial with locations at both the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda and UCSF? The preclinical studies on AAV2-GDNF were done by BarkiewIcz's team at UCFS. He is now collaborating with Heiss's team at NIND to conduct the trial. I think the only test site is at NIH.
