When orthodontists go wild:
... "Strange as it may seem, there is increasing evidence that people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease have the likelihood of having TMJ (jaw joint) Dysfunctions and that proper treatment of this disorder by a qualified dentist can help alleviate the symptoms of the disease. .." Has this been discussed here? Searched but did not find. Strange. You've got to pick up every stitch. So very strange. Must be the Season of the Witch |

I was seeing Dr. Jennings, in Alameda, California, a dentist who uses this approach for awhile. I met people who responded beautifully. I could not tolerate the mouth appliances he made so I had to quit.

It has been discussed here, and I believe on Braintalk in the past. A number of people had tmj type problems. Some people have teeth grinding at night. I had tentative dx way back of migraine caused by TMJ. Both resolved with sinemet, more recently have had several migraine, and return of discomfort and jaw clicking as wearing off and on. Know of at least one person with PD who has similar effect. Is it structural or due to rigidity? Pre-cursor to PD or part of it?
Its an interesting question. |

Had major jaw pain...going to a dentist and holding mouth open very long was horrible After studying about TMJ in massage school and on my own...and every lead I could find.; I worked long hours on it myself.. It got much better with massage...now I just don't eat anything that has to be chewed for long periods of time (like meat). The only trouble I have had lately is it seemingly getting out of place at night very occassionally because of the way I have slept on it. I do not chew gum any more (that agrevated it too)
