Default Good news!

I hope it's good news to find out how DBS actually works and why the brain responds to stimlulation.

Do you think we can find any "normal" people willing to act as a control allowing DBS surgery for comparison?

Thanks for sharing
Peg

Default Not important to me how it works.

Had mine to enable me to reduce my dose of Sinemet. Cut back to a third of what I was taking prior to surgery. Had had to go through 2 drug vacations to save my life and Kidneys. Surgery was 8 years ago. DBS did what I needed it to do. I also thank you for the info.

Default Dbs

Dianna

It was not my intention, and I hope that I did not offend you in my reply. DBS, like any other treatment for .PD, is so individualized. And the researchers have been very transparent in telling that they do not understand why or how the procedure works. It was what you needed.

Although t h e surgery works for many, it has mad e things worse for others
It often affects patients voice s and/or balance, but we don't hear very much. About that.beforehhand.

Default Two-Way DBS Device

My neurologist at UCSF told me about this device. They will be doing a clinical trial with it, as well as other select sites internationally.
