This greatly saddens me. But Ron was quite an advocate, leaving us with a lot of hope.

It was via these forums (BrainTalk, then NeuroTalk) that I first met Ron Hutton. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years longer than I (I was dx in 1994 - Ron was dx in 1991). This is proof that most PD is slow in progression.

Ron volunteered with several of of the same offline group's as I (Grassroots Connection, Pipeline Project, and PLWP). When I was in Germany promoting a trial in which I was enrolled and the potential of this new therapy, my husband and I spent 3 days with Ron and his lovely wife, Margaret. They were an exceptional host and hostess.

Another visitor from NeuroTalk had spent a few days with Ron prior to our visit.
It was our friend, Rick Everette, who lived a little over 100 miles from my home. Rick and I had good intentions of getting together, but you know what they say about good intentions . . .

Ron (aka Dr. Hutton) was brilliant! He held (among other degrees) a PhD in Chemical Engineering (I think - I'm unsure of the degree concentration). He also was a silversmith and served on an IRB at Kings College for a study on mucuna purines (see slides from a PDF Webinar)

Ron's writings here and elsewhere were some of the first I read when newly diagnosed, an informative and encouraging beginning for my life ahead with PD. I admired him and had the pleasure of spending a day with him and Margaret in their home.

Thanks Ron for your methodical, persistent and caring contribution to the Parkinson world.

I am saddened to read about the passing of Ron. I will miss his presence here. My condolences to his family. What a gentle man he was.

I still have not seen his obit, not can I get in touch with family. Anyone else had any luck?

This is very sad news. My condolences to Ron's family and friends. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Ron impressed me as being a very patient man....and I am so encouraged that he radically and successfully decreased his sinemet dose through time rather than increased it ....a detail of great import imho.

my overriding impression was that of a real gentleman, calm, dignified and treated everyone on this board with the same level of respect and attention.

His earlier post in this thread about going for the PWP record sums up the humour and dignity he displayed.

I too am saddened to hear about Ron's passing..I was a very active member of this board for quite a few years, but just pop in once in a while to read and see whats going on..I am happy that I decided to make a visit here today, but unhappy to hear the bad news about Ron..Ron fought a good fight, enjoyed his life to the fullest and never let Parkinson's get in the way..Ron was a gentleman and an inspiration to all those who knew him and his inspiration will carry on through his writings in his threads and posts..You will be missed Ron

yet his notable contributions to this forum and to the cause of Parkinson's Disease will live well beyond the sadness we now feel at the news of his passing. I especially appreciated the enthusiasm with which he shared the joy of his travels, as well as the frankness in describing several falls and other painful accidents resulting from his physical symptoms.

I will miss his posts, his good humor and his erudite observations.
