I know Stand Tall will like this article:
Dancing the tango or an Irish jig may improve symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (I assume other dances work also). New research shows that after dancing twice a week, patients were able to take up physical activities that they had been unable to perform since developing the disease. http://dailym.ai/1eKmAkT |

Thanks Tupelo…I do love to dance my PD away! Even my MDS takes tango lessons; she is a firm believer in dance helping PWP initiate movement. For those newly diagnosed you can learn more about the Dance for PD program out of Brooklyn, NY. There are classes all over the US and other countries and these classes are free. There is also an at home DVD available for purchase. The dance movements are extremely helpful and transition easily to everyday functions such as reaching down to the dishwasher and then up to a cabinet or pulling a sweater off over your head. Dance helps with balance, posture and memory. I have met so many wonderful people through this program. You don’t have to be a dancer, believe me; I have two left feet and two left arms! Jill |
